© Peanuts Worldwide LLCMinami-machida Grandberry Park November 2024 saw Minami-machida Grandberry Park celebrate the fifth anniversary of its opening. Undertaken via a public-private partnership, this integrated redevelopment project encompasses urban infrastructure, an urban park, commercial facilities, and a station. We have also sought to achieve sustainable urban development demonstrating consideration for the environment through such efforts as the adoption of green infrastructure and the use of 100% effectively renewable electric power in its operation. We have also refurbished the station to create an open, airy space where the park and commercial facilities meet, as well as installing escalators and platform doors to improve safety and convenience. Since the March 2024 opening of a tower condo linked directly to the station, we have been continuing to plan and move forward with development of the surrounding area, while also creating varied living environments in an effort to generate a home-moving cycle within the community.Grandberry Park (Opened in November 2019)Adopting an open mall model, this outlet and com-mercial complex is based on the concept of a lifestyle amusement park, serving as an entertainment park filled with the joy of living. There are 242 highly dis-tinctive premises (as of March 2024), including outlet stores, gourmet eateries, and entertainment facilities.Tsuruma ParkTsuruma Park was transformed into a park that pro-motes a healthy body and mind, enabling people to live life to the fullest. Acquisition of LEED ND (Neighborhood Development) and LEED NC (New Construction) Gold certificationThis project has become Japan’s first de-velopment incorporating a station facility to be certified with Gold status in either of these LEED categories. The LEED ND accreditation recognized the seamless structure of the neighborhood and the landscape design leveraging green infrastructure adopted throughout the area. The LEED NC citation praised the open, airy station build-ing that evokes the buoyancy of the neighborhood as a whole, while also achieving the efficient reuse of rainwa-ter and greater efficiency in energy use.*The LEED® program run by the U.S. Green Building Council contributes to the eval-uation and certification of the design, construction, and maintenance of high-perfor-mance green buildings.
