Based on its two earlier visions, Entertainment City SHIBUYA and the Greater SHIBUYA Concept (now collectively referred to as Greater SHIBUYA 1.0), the Tokyu Group has sought to resolve neighborhood issues and increase value by working with stakeholders in a variety of fields on such initiatives as redevelopment projects in the Shibuya Sta-tion area and activities as part of Shibuya Station District Area Management—a public-private cooperative body. In addition, the group participates in and cooperates with a range of community events. Modes of consumption and travel behavior are altering as population dynamics change and technology becomes more ad-vanced. In addition, there is growing concern about environmental problems and new social issues, including natural disasters, re-source and energy constraints, and infectious diseases. To move forward with urban development tailored to such new social needs, we have developed our new strategy, Greater SHIBUYA 2.0, which takes the elements of Greater SHIBUYA 1.0 to a more profound, advanced level. Through Greater SHIBUYA 2.0, we will promote specific measures to make Shibuya an even more appealing district.Another advantage of Shibuya is its appealing surroundings. It is within walking distance of several areas with distinctive identities, in-cluding Harajuku, Aoyama and Omotesando, Ebisu and Daikanyama. The area is also home to cultural and academic institutions such as the National Stadium and numerous universities. The Greater Shibuya concept seeks to take advantage of this favorable environment and, by continuing to showcase new projects and culture to the world, cre-ate a metropolitan area capable of sustainable growth.Based on the Greater SHIBUYA Concept and the Entertainment City SHIBUYA vision for creating a cluster of various forms of enter-tainment, we have enhanced the area’s appeal by promoting urban development targeting both tourists and workers, and also by creating mechanisms integrating the three elements of work, play, and live.To promote agile urban development tailored to new social needs, we have formulated Greater SHIBUYA 2.0 to serve as a new strategy taking the elements of Greater SHIBUYA 1.0 to a more profound, advanced level.
