Departing from Yokohama, passengers embarked on a four-day, three-night journey via Atami that also took in Mishima, Hamamatsu, and Shizuoka before returning to Yokohama. The aim of this new train cruise is to contribute to regional revitalization in Shizuoka Prefecture by offering an appealing tour product that takes full advantage of JR Central’s past local collaboration efforts in the prefecture and Based on findings from three pilot trials of the Izuko tourism-type MaaS initiative since 2019, Tokyu, JR East, and Izukyu Holdings launched Izu navi in No-vember 2022 as a digital service aimed at revitalizing the Izu region through co-creation initiatives in part-nership with the community. In addition to publicizing Izu’s diverse attrac-tions to a wider audience, Izu navi is intended to encourage visitors to Izu to use public transport and to make transport there more convenient. With this aim in mind, Izu navi serves as a one-stop hub for information about Izu’s tourist spots, accommodation facili-ties, and restaurants, as well as details of handy discount tickets, and information about cycle rental, car shares, and other modes of transport in each part of the region. We aim to continue to work with local governments and local transport and tourism operators to further develop this service, while contribut-ing to the revitalization of the Izu region. We are working on the use of autonomous driving and other new technologies, with the aim of creating new mobility services. Mobility needs are becoming more diverse as people’s lifestyles change and the population ages, and there is a need for smaller-scale intra-community transportation services to complement conventional means of transport to work and school. As such, sup-porting daily life in communities through a wider array of transport modes is essential. Tokyu’s regional revitalization know-how gained by operating The Royal Express.Since 2020, in light of this new social environ-ment, we have been verifying new mobility services that combine autonomous driving with remote moni-toring in Shizuoka Prefecture and the Tokyu area. In May 2024, we partnered with Keikyu Bus and Tokyu Bus to conduct the bus industry’s first joint pi-lot trial of autonomous driving. In addition to remote monitoring (operation management) from a separate location of autonomous buses operating in the differ-ent areas served by Keikyu Bus and Tokyu Bus, we verified remote monitoring and autonomous driving technology aimed at improving the safety of local buses and alleviating the burden of driving them. Going forward, we will continue to carry out veri-fication work aimed at bringing to fruition new mobility services that will solve social issues.Illustration of the LINE account screenAutonomous vehicleRemote monitoring16
