We are currently preparing to implement the next “Kininaru Renewal” project at Chidoricho- Station on the Ikegami Line, with the aim of starting construction in the winter of FY2024. Station refurbishment waste reuse projectIn an effort to achieve a recycling-based society, we are promoting the Station Timber for All Project, which facilitates the reuse of old timber salvaged from sta-tion buildings. In November 2023, we partnered with timber recycling specialist the Kozai Biyori Group on a trial in which old timber salvaged from station build-ings is being sold under the brand name STATION WOOD via the Kozai Biyori Group and our official online store, Tokyu Style. Going for-ward, we intend to continue recycling old timber from our station refurbishment projects and the like.In December 2021, we partnered with BOOKOFF GROUP HOLDINGS and BOOKOFF CORPORATION LTD. to launch a field trial aimed at promoting recy-cling-based urban development in which nothing gets thrown away. Lost property found at Tokyu line sta-tions, in trains and at other railway facilities becomes the property of Tokyu Railways if still unclaimed after the statutory storage period. Under this trial, Tokyu Railways placed such items back on the market as re-cycled goods via BOOKOFF stores both within Japan and overseas. As we have put in place the necessary operational setup and the trial proved somewhat ef-fective, we embarked on the full-scale launch of this initiative in April 2023.In March 2022, we began trialing Unilever’s UMILE Program at Minami-Machida Grandberry Park Station. The aim of the program is to collect and recycle used plastic packaging from Unilever products. Installing the box at a station makes it easier for people to drop off plastic items for recycling on their way to work or school, or when going out somewhere. The trial was made permanent in November 2022, and we installed another box at Tama-plaza Station in November 2023.In an effort to achieve a carbon-neutral, recy-cling-based society, we began operating services powered entirely by renewable energy on our Seta-gaya Line in March 2019. On April 2022, we expanded this initiative to cover all of our heavy rail lines. Now we run services entirely on electricity from renewable en-ergy sources with net zero CO2 emissions on all lines including the To-kyu- Shin-yokohama Line, which start-ed operating in March 2023. As our railway business accounts for around 30% of annual CO2 emissions by the Tokyu Group, achieving carbon neutrality in this area represents a major step toward the Tokyu Group’s target of achieving net zero CO2 emissions across the entire Group by 2050.Since March 2018, we have been progressively intro-ducing the 2020 series carriages to the Den-en-toshi -Line, the 6020 series to the Oimachi Line, and the 3020 series to the Meguro Line. All carriages are equipped with nanoe* air puri-fiers and high back seats. We aim to ensure onboard comfort and peace of mind for passengers. This project’s objective is to deliver urban development that centers trees and humans, by providing oppor-tunities for people to learn about, participate in, and support various things that benefit trees in the Tokyu area. In doing so, it aims to enable everyone to make a greater contribution to the circulation of forestry re-sources, starting with simple actions. Focused on the four areas of timber use, regional revitalization, social implementation creating shared value, and fostering community, the project seeks to promote its work based on collab-oration with a variety of co-creation partners and people living in the Tokyu area.“Kininaru Renewal” Through our “Kininaru Renewal” projects, which make ample use of timber in rebuilding platform roofs and A collection box made by recycling Tokyu Railways uniforms that were due to be discarded
