24April 2023 saw the opening of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, the product of a development project in Shinjuku’s Kabuki-cho district that involved the whole of the Tokyu Group. This high-rise complex with a total floor area of around 87,400 m2 across 48 above-ground floors and 5 basement floors stands about 225 m high. Aspiring to be a new urban tourism hub that will become the beating heart of the neighborhood, it houses a ho-tel and entertainment complex featuring a movie theater, theater, and live music venue. The concept of the tower is the creation of a venue to master one’s “likes”Tapping into its distinguishing feature as a hotel and entertainment complex, this facility will strive to create stories and suggest lifestyles that generate new pas-sions as a place where people can make discoveries. The movie theater 109 Cinemas Premium Shin-juku is operated by Tokyu Recreation Co., Ltd., while THEATER MILANO-Za, live music venue Zepp Shin-juku Tokyo, and night entertainment ZERO TOKYO are run by TST Entertainment Co., Ltd., a joint venture involving Tokyu Corporation, Tokyu Recreation, and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc.The development features two accommodation facilities: luxurious hotel high in the sky BELLUSTAR TOKYO, A Pan Pacific Hotel, and HOTEL GROOVE SHINJUKU, A PARKROYAL Hotel, which is linked to the development’s entertainment facilities and the surrounding neighborhood. The bus terminal provides a direct link between Tokyo’s main air gateways and Shinjuku’s Kabuki-cho district, which is popular with tourists and bustles with life around the clock.Contributions to urban developmentWe built bus stops for airport buses and refurbish Seibu Shinjuku Ekimae Street, as well as working in partnership with Kabuki-cho Town Management to ensure the seam-less management of public spaces in the vicinity, with a primary focus on the neighboring Cinecity Plaza.
