Installation of platform doors and fixed platform barriers equipped with sensors at all stationsHaving greatly accelerated our existing platform door installation plan, we completed installation of platform doors at all 64 stations on the To-yoko, Den-en-toshi, and O-imachi lines on March 22, 2020, when the plat-form doors at Todoroki Station on the O-imachi Line went into service (installation had already been com-pleted at all 13 stations on the Meguro Line). We have completed installation of fixed platform barriers equipped with sensors at all 22 stations on the Ikegami and To-kyu- Tamagawa lines. As the platform door installation program has progressed, platform safety has increased, while cases of passenger falls from platforms and plat-form-related transport disruptions have signifi-cantly decreased, mak-ing a major contribution to ensuring safe, reliable transportation.Emergency stop buttonsWe have installed emergency stop buttons on the platforms at 81 Tokyu line stations to prevent acci-dents (excluding the Setagaya Line and also the Me-guro Line). Pushing the button sends an emergency signal to trains in the vicinity, causing drivers to apply their brakes to make an emergency stop. Security buttons and intercomsWe have installed security buttons and intercoms on platforms and in toilet areas, so that passengers can notify station staff or security guards when they need assistance, such as when they have spotted a suspicious object or person in the station, when they feel unwell, or in the event of any other problem (using these buttons will not stop trains). Platform gap fillers and fall alarmsWe are progressively installing platform gap fillers (comb-shaped rubber profiles) on the sides of plat-forms to narrow gaps between trains and platforms, so that passengers are not at risk of falling into them if they lose their footing. We have also installed fall alarms under platforms, so station or train staff are alerted if the sensor de-tects that a passenger has fallen off the platform.
