Shibuya Scramble SquareEast Tower opened in November 2019 / Central and West Towers opening in FY2027 (planned)Total floor area: about 276,000 m2Composed of three build-ings, the East Tower opened in November 2019, while the Central and West Towers are planned to open in FY2027. The 47-story East Tower will stand about 230 m high, with SHIBUYA SKY, one of the largest scale outdoor observation decks in Japan, on the rooftop, which is sure to become a new symbol of Shibuya. The high-rise element of the complex fea-tures some of Shibuya’s most extensive premium of-fice space with all floors commanding views of central Tokyo. The mid and low-rise sections are equipped with commercial prem-ises that are bound to attract customers from across the globe. The development aims to become the world’s most up-to-the-minute commercial complex. The mid-rise portion is also home to Shibuya QWS, an industrial ex-change facility.Shibuya 2-chome district 17Opening FY2024 (planned)Total floor area: about 44,560 m2We plan to develop a complex with 23 above-ground floors adjacent to Shibuya Hikarie and Aoyama-dori. By locating commercial functions on the first four floors and seamlessly linking them to public squares around the site, we aim to create a hub that will at-tract new crowds. Floors 5 to 23 will consist of high-grade office space conveniently linked to the station. We will also increase accessibility by develop-ing not only multistory pedestrian networks linked to Shibuya Station and Aoyama-dori, but also multilevel indoor plazas that improve vertical access by elim-inating the need to walk up hilly streets. In addition, about 35% of the site area will be given over to open spaces and three outdoor plazas with plantings pro-viding a refreshing oasis of greenery amid the city. This will create hives of ac-tivity and interaction linked to pedestrian networks and indoor plazas.Enhancing Shibuya’s appealSHIBUYA+FUN PROJECTWe belong to two public-private cooperative bodies working to develop Shibuya’s appeal as a neighbor-hood: Shibuya Area Management Council and Shibuya Station District Area Management. To turn Shibuya into a lifestyle culture promotion hub open to the world, we are promoting a social experiment in which we use the income from outdoor advertising in public spaces in front of Shibuya Station to fund urban development activities. We opened a new tourist information center equipped with tourist information and local promotional functions in autumn 2020 at Shibuya Station’s Hachiko Square. Through various measures, we aim to ensure that Shibuya visitors and residents alike regard it as the world’s best neighborhood.Participation in the Tokyo Innovation Ecosystem Formation Promotion Support InitiativeFollowing on from FY2019, we were again selected as the Certified Area Conference representing the Shibuya area in FY2020, as part of this Tokyo Met-ropolitan Government initiative. In partnership with Tokyu Land Corp. and Tokyu Agency Inc., we will form an administration bureau conducting field trials and providing support for the creation of an innova-tion ecosystem in the streets of Shibuya. Making Shibuya Station more convenient! SHIBUYA Wi-Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi around Shibuya StationWe have teamed up with Shibuya Station District Area Management to offer SHIBUYA Wi-Wi-Fi, which provides visitors with access to a free Wi-Fi service in the square outside Shibuya Station and in surrounding commercial facilities.WANDER COMPASS SHIBUYATokyu Tokyo Metro Shibuya Station Tourist Information CenterThese centers are certified by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) as tourist information centers. Improving guidance signageTo improve the convenience of Shibuya Station and accessibility to the neighborhood, we revised the numbering of the underground exits from the To-yoko and Den-en-toshi lines, and Tokyo Metro Hanzo-mon and Fukutoshin lines at Shibuya Station in November 2019, and also improved the guidance signage. Each area has been assigned a letter of the alphabet, with each underground exit indicated by a user-friendly combination of a letter and numbers.Courtesy of Shibuya Scramble SquareCourtesy of Shibuya Scramble SquareCourtesy of the Urban Renewal Association for the Shibuya 2-chome district 17 Redevelopment*Available at facilities participating in SHIBUYA Wi-Wi-Fi.
